I am making a strip quilt for the first time to help a friend and new quilter make one. After chosing a jelly roll of batiks, then comes the choice of a contrasting fabric for the squares. 41 squares, 2.5” square.
Photos not in order, working this blog is new to me! First was chain sewing the squares onto each strip, then sewing the next strip to the square. This makes a very long strip with all the srtips attached with a square between them. Then I cut 20” off the beginning of the first strip, matched the ends of the first and last strips and sewed a very long seam joining two stips together. It took 45” to sew the first seam!
